An ounce of
prevention is worth
a pound of cure, so
the saying goes.
When it comes to
protecting your
organisation against
the imminent threat
of a cyberattack,
it’s essential to
factor in both.

Cisco’s annual Cybersecurity Report
indicates that there has been an
increase in data breaches globally, so
this is not unique to the Middle East.
The escalating number of data breaches
and advanced persistent threats and the
publicity around hacks are making users
even less confident that their sensitive
data and privacy will be protected.
Look at some of the most recent data
breaches including Equifax, Uber and
Yahoo, which opened up the possibility
of attackers gaining access to personal
data and, in theory, being able to
collate highly personal profiles of
affected individuals.
Every data breach and online attack
seems to involve a phishing attempt to
steal password credentials, to launch
fraudulent transactions, or to trick
someone into downloading malware.
And reports show that phishing
campaigns have increased both in
volume and sophistication.

Issue 03
Data breach prevention is top of mind
for nearly every organisation today. 2017
was filled with headlines about breaches
and data leakages with alarming
regularity and the list of companies –
both big and small – that have fallen prey
t o malicious attacks keeps getting longer.
Failures in data breach prevention
against internal and external threats
can have severe consequences.
Whether it’s the inadvertent or
malicious loss of intellectual property
