Family holiday firm Butlin’s
confirmed there had been an
attempt to access some guest data
by an unauthorised third party.
In a letter to customers posted
online, Dermot King, Butlin’s
Managing Director, said the data
which might have been accessed
included booking reference
numbers, lead guest names, holiday
arrival dates, postal and email
addresses, and telephone numbers.
However, King said payment details
were safe and the incident was
being investigated thoroughly.
NORTH AMERICA
The Alaskan local government borough of
Matanuska-Susitna (Mat-Su) confirmed it
suffered a ‘debilitating’ cyberattack in July.
The attack was made up of several types of
malware including trojan Emotet and ransomware
Bitpaymer. The incident was declared a ‘disaster’
due to the scale of the attack.
In an update posted online, the Matanuska-
Susitna Borough said it was working diligently
with many agencies and organisations to restore
borough services.
