French data protection regulator
CNIL issued a fine of €50 million
to tech giant Google over data
protection concerns.
The fine was issued under
GDPR rules highlighting a ‘lack
of transparency, unsatisfactory
information and lack of valid
consent for the personalisation
of advertisements’.
A spokesperson for Google said:
“People expect high standards of
transparency and control from us.
We’re deeply committed to meeting
those expectations and the consent
requirements of the GDPR. We’re
studying the decision to determine
our next steps.”
GLOBAL
Cybersecurity expert Troy Hunt, a Microsoft Regional Director,
outlined details of the largest ever database of breached login
details leaked on the Dark Web.
Collection #1 is a set of email addresses and passwords made
up of a number of different individual data breaches from
thousands of different sources.
On his blog, Hunt wrote that there were 772,904,991 unique
email addresses listed and 21,222,975 unique passwords.
