H has launched Fast Pass, a biometric passenger processing service developed with Qatar Airways and SITA.

The system allows passengers who choose to enrol to use facial recognition for check-in, bag drop, security and boarding, connecting more than 700 touchpoints across the airport.
Powered by SITA technology, passengers enrol in Fast Pass once via the Qatar Airways mobile check-in application or at a selfservice kiosk in the terminal. Once enrolled, facial recognition is used throughout the passenger journey.
The SITA self-service bag-drop units carry out the same facial verification and the service operates on infrastructure designed to support security and data protection.
Soon Qatar Airways transfer passengers will also be able to use Fast Pass, as well as other airlines operating from HIA. Participation is optional and staff are available for passengers who prefer standard processing.
Passengers are ready for something different, as airports everywhere are handling more passengers than ever. IATA research shows that most now prefer biometric identification over physical documents. Verifying a passenger once and recognising them at each touchpoint allows airports to meet rising demand without longer queues.
For passengers, departure feels different. They can drop their bag with a glance at the camera; walk through security without reaching for documents, and board with a look, not a search through their bag for documents.
“ The way people move through airports is changing, and trusted digital identity is at the centre of it,” said Selim Bouri, President, Middle East, Africa and Türkiye, SITA.“ When a passenger is verified once and recognised

across the whole journey, the airport runs more smoothly and the traveller stays in control of their data. Hamad International Airport has shown what that looks like at full scale, across every major touchpoint. This is the model the industry will build on: travel that is faster and simpler because it is built on trust.”
With a major emphasis on mobile, HIA plans to extend the service across more touchpoints over time, including enrolment and verification beyond the airport itself.
