SANS Institute to
enhance critical and
strategic cyber skills
in KSA

ANS Institute, a global leader
in cybersecurity training, held
SANS Riyadh 2019, a training
event for cybersecurity professionals
in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The
event, which was held at Burj Rafal
Hotel Kempinski, Riyadh from July 28 to
August 1 2019, focused on developing
skills in critical security and strategic
security planning. SANS Riyadh 2019
included two courses – Implementing and
Auditing the Critical Security Controls;
and Security Strategic Planning, Policy
and Leadership, conducted by global
cybersecurity experts, Brian Ventura
and Mark Williams respectively. Ned
Baltagi, Managing Director, Middle
East and Africa at SANS Institute, said:
“Nation state cyberattacks targeting
sensitive critical infrastructure and
large-scale enterprises are now a norm
that all governments worldwide have to
consider. Our courses are designed to
train cybersecurity professionals in the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to counter
such sophisticated nation-state driven
attacks on the Kingdom’s critical and
national infrastructure.” In July 2018, a
royal decree was issued in the Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia, which stressed that all
government agencies should upgrade
their cybersecurity to protect networks,
systems and electronic data, and abide
by policies, frameworks, standards
and guidelines issued by the National
Cybersecurity Authority.

KASPERSKY EXTENDS
COOPERATION WITH INTERPOL
IN FIGHT AGAINST CYBERCRIME
aspersky, a global
cybersecurity company, and
INTERPOL, the international
criminal police organisation, have
signed a new five-year agreement to
reinforce their collaboration in the fight
against cybercrime around the world.

This is the second agreement between
the two parties following the first
signed in 2014.
Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky,
and Tim Morris, Executive Director of
Police Service at INTERPOL, signed
a contribution agreement under
which Kaspersky will provide human
resources support, training and
threat intelligence data on the latest
cybercriminal activities to INTERPOL,
strengthening the organisation’s
cyberthreat hunting capabilities.
The signing ceremony took place at
INTERPOL World 2019. This cooperation
strengthens the existing relationship
between the two organisations, ensuring
information and technology sharing
can support INTERPOL in cybercrime-
related investigations.
Within the new agreement, Kaspersky
will share information about its
cyberthreat research and provide
the necessary tools to assist with
full digital forensics, aimed at
strengthening efforts on the prevention
of cyberattacks.

threat actors, collaboration across the
ecosystem and the sharing of expertise
is more crucial than ever.

partnership with INTERPOL and
