Connect UK
welcomes UK’s
cybersecurity elite
yber Security Connect UK
(CSC UK), a leading exclusive
conference and industry forum
for chief information security officers
(CISOs), was held in Monaco last month.
C
This second edition event saw more
than 200 of the UK’s top CISOs selected
from a range of industries including
finance, retail and legal, as well as
representatives from government bodies
gather to discuss the most current and
challenging cybersecurity trends.
The exclusive annual event is unique in
the fact that it brings together hand-
picked CISOs and decision-makers to
meet and network with their peers.
During the three-day event, the
delegates were able to debate high-level,
issues-led content, attend pre-scheduled
one-to-one meetings with selected IT
security providers and take advantage
of exclusive opportunities to solve
cybersecurity issues.
Key discussions planned for
this year’s event included cyber-
resilience, securing the supply chain,
benchmarking the CISO, cyber incident
management and developing the next
generation of cyber talent.

F-SECURE LAUNCHES AI
RESEARCH PROJECT
ybersecurity provider F-Secure
has launched a new research
project to further develop
the decentralised Artificial Intelligence
(AI) mechanisms currently used in its
detection and response technologies.
C
The initiative, dubbed Project Blackfin,
aims to leverage collective intelligence
techniques, such as swarm intelligence,
to create adaptive, autonomous AI
agents that collaborate with each other
to achieve common goals.
According to F-Secure Vice President
of Artificial Intelligence Matti Aksela,
there’s a common misconception that
‘advanced’ AI should mimic human
intelligence – an assumption Project
Blackfin aims to challenge. He said:
“People’s expectations that ‘advanced’
machine intelligence simply mimics
human intelligence is limiting our
understanding of what AI can and
should do. Instead of building AI to
function as though it were human, we
can and should be exploring ways to
unlock the unique potential of machine
intelligence and how that can augment
what people do.
“We created Project Blackfin to help us
reach that next level of understanding
about what AI can achieve.”
Project Blackfin is a research
initiative conceptualised by Aksela’s
cross-disciplinary team of Artificial
Intelligence and cybersecurity
researchers, mathematicians, data
scientists, Machine Learning experts
and engineers. The project aims to
publish research, findings and updates
as they occur. More information on
Project Blackfin is available at f-secure.
