Company number 8096230 5 Burnside Court Leominster Enterprise Park Herefordshire HR6 0LX editor’s note H ello and welcome to the first edition of Intelligent CISO in 2020. The new year will undoubtedly bring new challenges for CISOs across the region as the cyberthreat landscape continues to evolve – but the tech world is not known for standing still. I’m sure we’ll see some exciting new innovations over the next year as vendors ramp up their efforts to assist defenders. This is sadly the last edition that I will be editing as I am moving on from Lynchpin Media this month. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the past 18 months – I’ve been lucky enough to have met some inspiring, highly knowledgeable industry leaders and I leave with a very much enhanced understanding of cybersecurity. In our first feature this month, we explore how the once well-defined network perimeter has eroded in line with technology innovation and Digital Transformation. We’ve got advice from Alain Sanchez, Senior CISO Evangelist at Fortinet, on how CISOs should reassess their approach to network security to ensure their organisation is future-proof. their insights into how businesses and organisations can protect against insider threats. This is in light of research carried out by Gurucul, which found that nearly half of companies surveyed for its 2020 Insider Threat Report were unable to remediate insider threats until after data loss has occurred. To round off this issue, we ‘Go Phish’ with Charles Poff, CISO, SailPoint, who tells us about life inside and outside the office. I hope you enjoy the magazine and if you’d like to contribute to any future issues please get in touch by emailing alix@lynchpinmedia.co.uk, the new editor of the publication. Jess Phillips Editor Meanwhile, our ‘Editor’s Question’ looks at the ever-worrisome insider threat.
