Think Tank
partners with
Fortinet to fill the
cybersecurity skill
gap in South Africa
ortinet, a global leader in broad,
F
integrated and automated
cybersecurity solutions, has
announced its first Fortinet Network
Security Academy (FNSA) in South
Africa, with Think Tank, a private
higher learning organisation providing
Information Technology solutions, training,
recruitment and professional services.
This unique programme aims to provide
industry-recognised training and
certification in cybersecurity in order to
better prepare youth people for a career.
With this programme, Think Tank has
already placed 73 unemployed youths in
relevant IT positions out of 75.
In addition, Think Thank also helped
in implementing the FNSA programme
within an ICT Academy in Braam Park,
Johannesburg, thanks to its partnership
with NGO Afrika Tikkun, an organisation
providing education, health and social
services to young people and their
families through centres of excellence in
South African townships.
“As a growing number of companies
find that Fortinet uniquely meets local
security needs, we see increasing
demand for certified Fortinet specialists.
We strategically aligned with Fortinet
across solutions, consulting and training,
and this has proved to be a good
decision,” said Think Tank Managing
Director, Tebogo Moleta.
Think Tank now has access to
FortiManager, FortiAnalyser and
FortiSIEM as a standard part of the
FNSA offering and is gearing up to
expand the programme this year in
talks with a number of local universities
on introducing the FNSA as part of
their curricula.
GISEC POSTPONED OVER
CORONAVIRUS CONCERNS
ISEC, a major cybersecurity
G event held in Dubai, has been
postponed due to concerns
over Coronavirus. The event, which was
due to take place from April 6–8 at The
World Trade Centre in Dubai, has been
postponed until September 1–3.
A statement on the event’s website
said: “In light of the evolving global
developments around the COVID-19
virus, Dubai World Trade Centre has
been closely monitoring the situation,
particularly as it pertains to our
key stakeholders and participating
delegations from around the world
across all our upcoming shows.
“While the UAE remains completely
safe for travel and has deployed
the strictest medical and hygiene
protocols, we fully recognise that for
some specific shows, we have a high
majority of key participants significant
to the event’s programme that are
unable to travel due to restrictions in
their home countries.
“As such, we have been working
closely to assure that our clients’
needs are most effectively addressed
and the delivery of strong international
participation considered in these
extraordinary times.
“Our decision comes after much
deliberation in consultation with the
event’s main participants and industry
stakeholders, who have strongly
endorsed our prioritisation of the
collective interests of both the global
exhibitors and the key buyers from the
region. With the event now rescheduled
in September 2020, GISEC shall
facilitate greater participation across
our global communities, enabling more
inclusive access for all.
“We look forward to welcoming you to
GISEC this September 2020.”
