UK
Cyber experts have launched measures to protect
the UK from online harm as the country continues
to rely more on technology while staying at home.
The National Cybersecurity Centre (NCSC), a
part of GCHQ, launched the cross-governmental
‘Cyber Aware’ campaign, which offers actionable
advice for people to protect passwords, accounts
and devices.
David Mount, Director, Europe, at Cofense, said:
“The regular reporting of suspicious emails
by users is incredibly important as they are
the frontline of defence against an increase in
phishing attacks – especially when SEGs
(Secure Email Gateways) miss them.”
GLOBAL
Zoom Video Communications has announced
robust security enhancements with the availability of
Zoom 5.0, a key milestone in the company’s 90-day plan to
proactively identify, address and enhance the security and privacy
capabilities of its platform.
Zoom, which has soared to 200 million daily users from 10 million in less than three
months, had faced backlash from users after security researchers found bugs in its
codes and the company failed to disclose that its service was not end-to-end encrypted.
Sam Curry, Chief Security Officer at Cybereason, said: “Overall, the backlash facing
Zoom over the past few weeks was overhyped and unfair in many regards because
the security vulnerabilities, while certainly nothing to sneeze at, were much less
severe than their competitors would actually admit.”
