UK
Proofpoint has released research
that only one of the UK’s top 50
most popular dining and pub brands
has implemented the strictest level
of DMARC protection. This protocol
stops cybercriminals spoofing
an organisation’s identity and
decreases the risk of email fraud
for customers. Jamie Akhtar of
CyberSmart, said: “While they may
be using accurate domain names
in their spoofs, things like poor
grammar, urgent calls to action and
suspicious links can give them away.
If in doubt, don’t click on it.”
The UK has called for an end to
irresponsible cyberattacks by the
Russian Intelligence Services,
which is suspected of collecting
information on vaccine development
and research into the COVID-19
virus. This follows a joint advisory
by the UK’s National Cyber Security
Centre (NCSC), the US and Canada
on how to protect against these
attacks. The Foreign Secretary,
Dominic Raab, said: “It is completely
unacceptable that the Russian
Intelligence Services are targeting
those working to combat the
Coronavirus pandemic.”
