Delinea reveals cloud automation is key to futureproofing cybersecurity

elinea , a leading provider of privileged access

D management ( PAM ) solutions , has announced a new survey-based report which highlights that cloud automation is seen as the key to future-proofing cybersecurity – especially when coupled with autonomous privileges and access .

A total of 86 % of respondents are exploring ways to automate access controls , especially for privileged access . But even with 68 % of respondents seeing increases in budgets and staff , they continue to face mounting threats from an expanding threatscape they are challenged to address .
The report , titled Cloud Automation is the Key to Future- Proofing Cybersecurity , features responses from over 300 IT decision-makers .
It outlines key insights for developing a security strategy that supports growth and shares tips on navigating the changing cybersecurity landscape .
Joseph Carson , Advisory CISO and Chief Security Scientist at Delinea , said : “ This survey report presents a conundrum , as respondents feel confident in their current cybersecurity postures , despite a significant amount of breaches being caused by compromised credentials .
“ Yet they also realise that the way to secure the future of their organisations is through cloud automation , which for most presents a dynamic shift in approach , investments and resources .
“ Today ’ s cyberthreats are faster , more intelligent and more dangerous . To prevent security blunders and survive in today ’ s unpredictable landscape , organisations must lean heavily on automation and embrace least privilege and Zero Trust best practices at every turn .”

Thales finds one in five businesses have paid or would pay a ransom for their data

R esearch from Thales has found that malware , ransomware and phishing continue to plague global organisations .

The frequency and impact of ransomware attacks has now accelerated due to the rise of cryptocurrency as the preferred ransomware payment method .
In fact , one in five ( 21 %) have experienced a ransomware attack in the last year ; with 43 % of those experiencing a significant impact on operations .
In fact , the 2022 Thales Data Threat Report , conducted by 451 Research , including more than 2,700 IT decision-makers worldwide , found a fifth ( 22 %) of organisations have admitted that they have paid or would pay a ransom for their data . Despite this , 41 % of respondents said they had no plans to change security spending , even with greater ransomware impacts .
Sebastien Cano , Senior Vice President for Cloud Protection and Licensing Activities at Thales , said : “ As the pandemic continues to affect both our business and personal lives , any expectation of a ‘ return ’ to pre-pandemic conditions have faded .
“ While teams around the world have continued to face challenges in securing their data , our findings indicate that urgent action is needed by businesses to develop more robust cybersecurity strategies .
“ The attack surface , as well as the asset management challenges , are only set to increase in the coming year and it is vital that businesses deploy a robust security strategy based on discovery , protection and control .”
