Material security incidents have halved since last year , say global CISOs

Purple , finds organisational security has significantly improved over the last year , following positive shifts in organisational influence by CISOs and changing attitudes towards security culture
Informed by a survey of more than 100 information security leaders from both private and public organisations around the world , the report highlights a reduction of material incidents – those resulting in significant changes to financial position , operational disturbances or compromised data – which coincides with the growing importance and influence of CISOs in their respective organisations .
In addition , 67 % of CISOs responding to the survey said their organisations had increased their information security budgets compared with 2021 and for one-fifth of respondents , budgets had increased by more than 50 %.
“ As we move further away from the Pandemic , what this report makes clear is that much of the groundwork to bolster security has been done ,” said Stephen Khan , Chair of the ClubCISO
Advisory Board . “ Collectively , CISOs have made security a company-wide concern and the business case for it , not only in our respective businesses but also across our supply chains , has never been stronger .”

New Gigamon survey finds visibility the most important cloud security factor

G igamon , a leading deep observability company , has released findings from its first Visibility for Multi-Cloud Migrations survey .
Commissioned by Pulse . qa , a division of Gartner , the study surveyed IT and InfoSec leaders to identify challenges associated with advancing their multi-cloud strategies .
According to the survey , the majority of respondents believe there is room for improvement in visibility to assure the security , compliance and performance of their hybrid and multi-cloud workloads .
“ While the path to application and infrastructure modernisation varies for every business , closing this visibility gap is essential to securing and optimising the network to deliver a superior user experience .”
To address cloud migration challenges , of those surveyed , 82 % of IT and InfoSec leaders prefer best-of-breed third-party security monitoring tools over cloud platform provider tools .
According to a recent Pew Research survey , 64 % of Americans are choosing to remain in either a fully remote or hybrid working environment , forcing businesses to grapple with the increasing complexity that comes with migrating and scaling workloads in the cloud . As such , Pulse . qa survey respondents rank visibility into cloud data-in-motion as the top security factor globally .
