Liverpool City Region Combined Authority funds search for next generation of cyber experts

N generation of cyber specialists through a series of courses fully funded by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority ( LCRCA ) devolved Adult Education Budget .
Cybersecurity can be a lucrative and long-term career , with senior engineers and technicians earning upwards of £ 55,000 per year . The courses , which are run by Netcom Training , are designed to give learners a better understanding of the industry and how threats such as malware and ransomware are impacting businesses , both in the region and worldwide .
The part-time courses , which are delivered online over an eight-week period , are available to people aged 19 years and over living in the Liverpool City Region including Halton , Knowsley , Liverpool , Sefton , St Helens , or The Wirral . They are focused on supporting individuals from priority groups including low-paid and unemployed , ex-offenders , veterans , ethnic minorities , people living with disabilities and those returning to work after a career break .
Once completed , Netcom Training will assist learners in finding a suitable role in the local area , helping them to apply those newly acquired skills to junior roles in software development , network engineering and penetration testing .
