editor ’ s note

ello and welcome to

H the latest edition of Intelligent CISO and the last of 2023 ! As the curtains close on another year , we include input from industry experts who provide their final thoughts on what has been a tumultuous 12 months in the cybersecurity space , unsurprisingly , and what we can expect next year .

The cover story , which can be found on page 51 , sees Rachel Hopkins , CIO at ArrowXL , discuss how the organisation ’ s partnership with Node4 means it can now provide a faster , more robust and secure IT network to its customers and maintain a leading position in the logistics sector . Hopkins emphasises the importance of its customers and how it prioritises the delivery of a seamless and secure network with minimal disruptions .
On page 18 , we explore why less than half of UK businesses have strong visibility into security risks facing their organisation . Vanta ’ s State of Trust report has revealed some stark findings when it comes to cybersecurity , including the fact that 76 % of leaders in France say they need to improve security and compliance , the highest of all markets .
‘ Predictive Intelligence ’ shines a spotlight on the quantum threat . Duncan Jones , Quantinuum ’ s Head of Cybersecurity , discusses what it means to prepare your organisation to be quantum resilient in the face of the greatest cryptographic threat we ’ ve ever encountered .
As we approach 2024 , it wouldn ’ t feel right not to pay homage to what we ’ ve learnt over the past 12 months and the lessons we can take forward . On page 36 , Avkash Kathiriya , Sr . VP – Research and Innovation at Cyware , offers his expert knowledge while considering where the security ecosystem is heading in the months to come .
Giving his ‘ Expert Opinion ’ this issue is John Cullen , Strategic Marketing Director Digital Identity at Thales , who explores the expansive benefits of biometric technology and how it acts as a key enabler for digital identity and its applications in various sectors . This can be found on page 41 .
Rounding off is James Campbell , CEO and Co-founder of Cado Security . On page 71 , we ‘ Get To Know ’ him by discovering how he landed in his role as well as how he likes to relax and unwind outside the office .
Not only is this the last issue of 2023 , it ’ s also my last as Editor of Intelligent CISO magazine . Whilst I remain at Lynchpin Media , the time has come for me to try my hand at something new – as Head of Strategic Content . I ’ ve had a fruitful six years as editor , to say the least , and I feel privileged to have had a front-row seat witnessing the evolution of the cybersecurity landscape . I now leave the publication in the capable hands of mark @ lynchpinmedia . com
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
