Munawar Valiji , Former Trainline CISO , talked about his key investment priorities , highlighting that AI and Chat GPT remain top of mind when considering an investment .
“ There ’ s some interesting technology coming down the line in terms of what we ’ re having to deal with around regulatory challenges , but also helping organisations navigate the change of experimenting with a technology that is so nascent with little or no guardrails to be able to do it in a safe and controlled environment ,” he said .
As the threat landscape continues to diversify , with more competition than ever before , the vendors that put relationship management at the heart of their programmes will be those that emerge triumphant .
He highlighted how Infosecurity Europe , as an event , provides a good opportunity for CISOs to meet with leaders from some of the biggest vendors – to ask difficult questions , raise concerns or provide feedback .
“ This is what the vendors are expecting , and this is where you can really make a difference in terms of shaping and understanding , but also having those connections . Because once you have those connections , those connections become enduring . They stay with you , and you can take them with you to make a difference .”
Of course , each CISO will have their own approach and method for identifying the best solutions for their organisations based on specific use cases .
For Lawson and Valiji , it is clear that trust and partnerships – rather than a purely transactional relationship are crucial .
