C yberArk ’ s latest research highlights the urgent need to secure workforce access , not just manage it , as hybrid working and flexible access trends grow .
A multi-country report uncovers how employee access to sensitive and privileged data – both intentional and accidental – puts organisations at risk . Based on a survey of 14,003 employees across Australia , Singapore , the US , UK , France and Germany , it reveals patterns that call for a rethink of identity security controls . devices as Wi-Fi hotspots or forwarding work emails to personal accounts .
4 . AI introduces new risks – 72 % of employees use AI tools , with 38 % rarely or never following guidelines for sensitive data handling .
Key findings include :
1 . Widespread access to sensitive data – 80 % of employees access workplace apps from personal devices , often lacking adequate security . Privileged access extends beyond IT admins , with 40 % regularly downloading customer data , a third able to alter sensitive data , and 30 % approving large transactions .
2 . Password reuse is rampant – 49 % reuse login credentials for multiple work apps , while 36 % use the same credentials for personal and work accounts . Over half ( 52 %) have shared confidential workplace information externally , increasing breach risks .
