Cisco identifies top five actions to safeguard healthcare organisations from rising cyberthreats

C isco has outlined five priority actions that healthcare organisations must take to strengthen cybersecurity and maintain digital resilience across the sector. remains a prime target for cyberattacks, with highly valuable patient data, outdated systems and widespread human vulnerabilities exposing healthcare to breaches.

The recommendations address the unique vulnerabilities of healthcare systems, while supporting organisations in the UAE to protect patient trust in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
As a digital-first nation, the UAE has seen hospitals and healthcare providers embrace technologies such as electronic health records( EHRs), telemedicine and AI-driven diagnostics. However, the industry
In the UAE, the Department of Health Abu Dhabi( DoH) has set a benchmark through its Abu Dhabi Healthcare Information and Cyber Security Standard( ADHICS), requiring providers to adopt protections such as multi-factor authentication, encryption, firewalls and incident response planning.
Cisco’ s five actions are:
1.
Treat obsolete IT systems as systemic risks.
2.
Reimagine IT spending models to enable OpEx flexibility.
3.
Elevate cybersecurity training to a strategic priority.
4.
Encourage resource sharing and regional collaboration.
5.
Secure EHRs with robust standards, encryption and access controls.

“ Organisations must confront the reality that cybersecurity is no longer just an IT issue. It is a core component of patient services and enabling digital resilience in healthcare,” said Fady Younes, Managing Director for Cybersecurity at Cisco Middle East, Africa, Türkiye, Romania and CIS.

DE-CIX launches world’ s first AI internet exchange

E-CIX, a leading Internet Exchange( IX) operator, has announced the

D launch of the world’ s first fullyintegrated AI Internet Exchange( AI-IX). The new platform is available at Europe’ s largest Internet Exchange in Frankfurt and all DE-CIX locations worldwide. It is designed to provide seamless, high-performance interconnection for AI-powered applications, addressing the growth in demand for AI services.

The company has completed the first phase of its global rollout, connecting over 50 AI-relevant networks, including providers of AI and GPU services. This initial phase focuses on AI inference, which is essential for real-time applications such as robotics and self-driving cars, ensuring resilient and lowlatency connectivity.
A second phase will make the AI-IX Ultra- Ethernet-ready, enabling it to support the more demanding requirements of AI model training. This will allow AI training to be carried out in a geographically distributed manner, moving away from centralised data centres.
“ With various predictions made for millions – even hundreds of millions – of AI agents in the coming years, the need for interconnection services to support their operations is growing massively”, said Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX.
“ Until now, huge, centralised data centres have been needed to quickly process AI computing loads on parallel clusters,” added Dr. Thomas King, CTO of DE-CIX.
