Cisco and KAUST have deepened their long-running alliance with a new AI Institute designed to advance research, innovation and talent development in support of Vision 2030.
The announcement highlights how Cisco’ s expertise in networking, cybersecurity and cloud-scale Artificial Intelligence infrastructure will combine with KAUST’ s research capabilities and advanced facilities to strengthen national ambitions in innovation and skills development.
Based at the KAUST campus, the Institute will drive AI research, development and education while accelerating the creation of a highly skilled workforce. It builds on more than two decades of collaboration between Cisco and the Kingdom and reinforces a shared commitment to Digital Transformation.
“ Our long-standing partnership with Cisco has been instrumental in realising KAUST’ s vision,” said KAUST President, Sir Edward Byrne.
A core priority is talent development, supported by Cisco’ s pledge to offer free digital training to 500,000 learners in Saudi Arabia with a strong emphasis on AI and cybersecurity. The Institute also aligns with Cisco’ s Country Digital Acceleration programme, which has delivered high-impact national projects since 2016.
SWITZERLAND
The National Cyber Security Centre( NCSC) launched a project with its partner network to help communities and organisations in Switzerland strengthen their cyber-resilience.
As part of this wider initiative, the NCSC developed an emergency planning model, a set of practical tools and an educational video, all of which were designed to offer practical guidance that could be easily applied by a broad range of stakeholders. These resources were made available on its website so that communities, public bodies and private organisations could access them without barriers.
The material covered crisis organisation, crisis communication, key emergency contacts and a series of concrete measures intended to support structured preparation for potential incidents.
In developing this content, the NCSC and its partner network pooled cybersecurity expertise and resources from different sectors, allowing them to combine practical experience with strategic guidance. Through this approach, the organisations involved worked to establish a shared understanding of cyber-emergency planning among communities and organisations, ensuring that each group could develop robust and consistent preparedness practices.
