editor’ s note
ello and welcome to
H the latest edition of Intelligent CISO.
This month’ s cover story, which can be found on page 15, features Ian Melton, Head of Security and IT Operations, Autoleague.
He explains how the automotive retailer has strengthened password and network security across its nationwide operations by deploying Privileged Access Management and Privileged Remote Access solutions from BeyondTrust.
As one of Australia’ s largest automotive retail groups, Autoleague depends on a complex IT platform to support dealerships, after-sales services and back-office teams, including staff based in Sri Lanka.
Melton outlines how improving the management of privileged credentials and removing persistent passwords helped the business meet cyberinsurance requirements while reducing the risk of unauthorised access.
The introduction of secure remote access has also enabled overseas teams and acquisition partners to connect safely to Australian systems without relying on VPNs or exposing the network to cyber-risks.
Overall, the deployment has delivered a more secure, resilient environment that supports business growth while ensuring franchisees can continue to meet customer needs effectively.
Elsewhere, we learn how as Robotic Process Automation transforms supply chain operations by improving efficiency and integration, it also introduces new cyberattack pathways that significantly expand the threat landscape.
High-privilege bots connecting multiple systems create attractive targets for attackers, with a single compromise potentially exposing sensitive data, enabling fraud and disrupting just-in-time operations.
The risks are amplified across supply chains due to trusted relationships between organisations, where attackers can exploit weaker partner environments to spread malware or manipulate data through legitimate-looking automated transactions.
To address these challenges, organisations must adopt a multi-layered security approach that includes least-privilege access, hardened credential management, continuous monitoring and secure network segmentation.
Ultimately, treating RPA security as a strategic and collaborative priority not only reduces operational and reputational risk but also strengthens trust, resilience and competitive advantage across the supply chain.
