DICT and Google Cloud expand cyberdefence initiative across Philippine government
he Philippines’ Department of Information and Communications Technology( DICT) has expanded its
T cybersecurity partnership with Google Cloud through a multi-year initiative designed to strengthen national cyberdefence capabilities and protect critical government services.
As part of the programme, the DICT Cybersecurity Bureau has established a cross-agency cyberdefence alliance supported by Google Cloud technologies and threat intelligence capabilities.
At the centre of the initiative is the deployment of Google Cloud Cybershield at the National Security Operations Center( NSOC). The platform combines AI-driven security operations, threat intelligence and Mandiant expertise to help government agencies detect, investigate and respond to cyberthreats.
Henry Rhoel Aguda, Secretary, Department of Information and Communications Technology, said:“ DICT is accelerating‘ Digital Bayanihan’ with partners like Google Cloud, where AI-driven systems, proactive cyberdefence and network infrastructure operate in tandem to provide every citizen with access to public services and high-speed connectivity within a secure online environment.”
The cyberdefence framework is also being used to help secure digital operations associated with the ASEAN Summits being hosted by the Philippines throughout 2026, while supporting broader efforts to improve cyber-resilience across the public sector.
According to DICT, security teams from 56 government agencies have already been onboarded and trained to use the platform, with a total of 90 agencies expected to be connected by the end of June 2026.
The initiative enables centralised monitoring of security events across public sector organisations and supports co-ordinated responses to threats targeting government systems and critical national infrastructure.
