Cloud-native architectures break traditional approaches to application security

oftware intelligence company , Dynatrace , has

S announced the findings of an independent global survey of 700 CISOs , which reveals that the rising adoption of cloud-native architectures , DevOps and agile methodologies has broken traditional approaches to application security .

As organisations shift more responsibility ‘ left ’ to developers to accelerate innovation , increasingly complex IT ecosystems and outdated security tooling can slow releases by leaving blind spots and forcing teams to manually triage countless alerts , many of which are false positives reflecting vulnerabilities in libraries that are not used in production . of change in today ’ s dynamic cloud environments and rapid innovation cycles .”
The report is based on a global survey of 700 CISOs in large enterprises with over 1,000 employees , conducted by Coleman Parkes and commissioned by Dynatrace in 2021 . The sample included 200 respondents in the US , 100 in the UK , France , Germany and Spain and 50 in Brazil and Mexico , respectively .
Organisations are calling for a new approach that is optimised for multi-cloud environments , Kubernetes and DevSecOps .
Bernd Greifeneder , Founder and Chief Technology Officer , Dynatrace , said : “ The increased use of cloud-native architectures has fundamentally broken traditional approaches to application security . This research confirms what we ’ ve long anticipated : manual vulnerability scans and impact assessments are no longer able to keep up with the pace

Fortinet unveils next-generation firewall to secure hybrid data centres

ortinet has announced the FortiGate 3500F Next-

F

Generation Firewall ( NGFW ) to protect organisations with hybrid data centres against the ever-growing threat landscape and ransomware attacks .
Organisations are adopting hybrid data centres to increase operational agility . As the data centre infrastructure becomes more distributed , however , the attack surface expands and more blind spots emerge , increasing the potential for breaches . It ’ s critical for organisations to inspect encrypted flows to detect all type of attacks to prevent ransomware and the disruption of command and control attacks stealing customer and corporate data .
John Maddison , EVP of Products and CMO at Fortinet , said : “ With the FortiGate 3500F , Fortinet is the only vendor that natively integrates access proxy capabilities in its NGFWs to turn on Zero Trust network access .
“ Additionally , FortiGate 3500F further enables organisations to protect against evolving threats and rising ransomware attacks , delivering the industry ’ s highest security compute rating of 6x for performance compared to competitors – including TLS1.3 – to deliver consistent end-to-end security .”
Other highlights include :
• FortiGuard Security Services and Fortinet ASIC SPUs enable hyperscale protection for ransomware and advanced threats
• Natively integrates access proxy capabilities
• Seamless user experience through consolidation
