The BBC Pension Scheme has disclosed a data security incident involving the personal information of some of its members .

The Australian Government is working with Ticketmaster in response to a cyberincident which has hit the American online ticket sales platform .
A BBC Pension Scheme Spokesperson said : “ The BBC ’ s information security team has alerted us to a data security incident , in which some BBC Pension Scheme records have been copied from an online data storage service .
“ It is important to stress that this information did not contain any bank details , financial information , telephone numbers , email addresses , username or passwords and did not involve the Pension Scheme website or our member portal . However , the information included details such as names , National Insurance numbers , dates of birth , sex and the home addresses of some of our pension scheme members .”
“ The Australian Government is aware of a cyberincident impacting Ticketmaster ,” a spokesperson for the Australia Home Affairs Department said in an official statement to Intelligent CISO .
“ The National Office of Cyber Security is engaging with Ticketmaster to understand the incident .”
Javvad Malik , Lead Security Awareness Advocate at KnowBe4 , said : “ Australia ’ s Department of Home Affairs ’ collaboration with Ticketmaster , alongside the FBI ’ s involvement , demonstrates the increasingly global response required to tackle such breaches . It ’ s no longer a matter of if a company will be targeted , but when , and how prepared they are to respond .”
